I haven't taken part in the Follow Friday meme for ages!

Here's this week's question:

Q: Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favorite bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012.

I love this question! At the moment, I'm really loving Lady Gaga. I adore the fact that she sings pop music, but unlike the majority of these types of musicians she can really sing live & in tune. There's no denying others, like Christina Aguilera and Katy Perry, sound good on studio tracks, but live their voices are definitely lacking in the pitch department. Lady Gaga, however, she always sounds amazing. Here's an example:

Apart from her, I also enjoy some Bon Jovi, Maroon 5, Aerosmith, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley... I could go on forever!

What are your musical likes and dislikes?

Not only is it Remembrance Day, it's 11/11/11! Trippy.

Here's this week's question:

Q: In light of 11.11.11 and Veteran's Day tell us about your favorite solider and how he or she is saving the world. Fictional or real life.

Wow, tough question. I had to think about it for a little while, but then I remembered a book I read a few years ago – From Baghdad, With Love. Jay Kopelman is a Marine serving in Iraq, and he comes across a little stray puppy he calls Lava. They soon become inseparable and the Liutenant Colonel decides that he wants to try and get Lava home to the United States with him. It's a beautiful true story.

Who's your favourite soldier?

Friday the 13th follow friday! And right in time for Halloween! Haha. :-P

Here's this week's question:

Q: If you could have dinner with your favourite book character, who would you eat with and what would you serve?

Wow, this is a tough one. I don't even know if I can choose a most favourite character! So I'll go with an easy pick and make it Bilbo Baggins, and I guess I'd just feed him a load of cakes! Hobbits like those, I think. :P

What about you guys?

and me!

I'm sorry guys for not getting my post up sooner! Luckily I randomly woke up at about 4.30am and, instead of going back to sleep, decided to read The Zahir (Paulo Coelho may be my own new obsession by the way!) and check my email. Anyway, thanks for visiting and for following, and thanks so much to Rachel and Alison for featuring me! :D

Here's this week's question:

Q: If you could have characters from a book meet and form an epic storyline with characters from a TV series, which characters would you choose and why?

I'd definitely have the Scooby Gang from Buffy meet Edward and company from Twilight! I'm sure that would freak the former out a little bit - seeing vamps that don't burn up in sunlight and can't be killed with a simple stake to the heart. C'mon Joss and Stephenie, make it happen! ;-)

What have you guys picked?

Here's this week's question:

Q. It's that pesky magic book fairy again! She has another wish: What imaginary book world would you like to make a reality?

There are loads! But the world of Middle Earth definitely stands out the most! How amazing would it be if Hobbits, wizards and elves were real? Could do without the orcs though, heh.

What imaginery world would you make real?

Woah, ten weeks of Follow Friday goodness!

Here's this week's question:

Have you ever wanted a villain to win at the end of a story? If so, which one?

Err, well... it wasn't a book, but can I count the fact that I wanted the Indianapolis Colts to win over the New Orleans Saints in the 2009 NFL season Super Bowl?! I'm only saying because I am a massive Colts fan, and they were kind of considered the villians there, right? I mean, everyone wanted the Saints to win. But I digress!

Anyway, in terms of books, I can't think of any. I pretty much always root for the good guys. :-)

How about you? Any villians you've wanted to see succeed?

Welcome to Follow Friday number nine! Woohoo!

Here's this week's question:

Q. If you could change the ending of any book (or series), which book would you choose? Why and to what?

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer! I really liked the book until all those other vampires turn up to testify for Renesmee, and then the Volturi come to execute the Cullens for 'creating' her, but realise they've been misinformed and go away without anything very remarkable happening. Up until that part, I enjoyed all the Twilight books... but that kind of ending just completely dissapointed me. Plus – a vampire and a human having a child? Really? Reeeeeaaaaally?? I'm just saying!

What do you guys think? Which book would you change?

Welcome to week numero ocho!

Here's this week's question:

Q. In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

Oh darn. I'm going to say nothing from Buffy this time! At least, not unless it's Angel or Spike – they can drop in at anytime providing their souls are in tact. And I think you catch my drift there, Buffy fans...! Ha.

So then... vampires... and they all have souls? Or maybe the elves from The Lord of the Rings. I guess anything non-evil would be okay in my book, then!

Who, or what, would you want to see 'come out of the closet'?

Having missed last week's festivities, I'm back on the Follow Friday train! Woohoo!

Here's this week's question:

Q. If you could write yourself a part in a book, what book would it be and what role would you play in that book?

Hmmm, I had to think about this for a little while, but now I've got it... easy! I'd want to be some kind of immortal being with super strength, or perhaps a superhero or superhuman. Being a vampire would be awesome to an extent, but I definitely wouldn't be an evil one! I'd either be soul-having like Angel or Spike, or beg the Cullens to take me in and teach me their ways...! And of course, I would want the personality to go alongside all this; no use having amazing superpowers if you're as dull as watching paint dry!

As for my role, I don't know if I'd want to be the heroine in charge of saving the world or anything. But I'd like to think my superpowers would give me enough intestinal fortitude to at least do something towards helping to stop an apocalypse, invasion of aliens, world war III... you see where I'm going. ;-)

How about you guys? What part would you play in the book of your choice?

Welcome to Follow Friday #6! Here's this week's question:

Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).

It's going to be difficult to name the book that most changed or influenced me, but I'm pretty sure it'd be accurate to say Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I first learnt about her in school, when we began reading Pride and Prejudice as part of an assignment. I was apprehensive about the book at first but by the time Mr Darcy had declared his love for Elizabeth, I was enthralled. Since then, I've gone back to it several times, and I always pick it up when I'm going through a particular hard time in life. It comforts me – everytime I read it I'm brought to a simpler time in history, and it's also as if I'm visiting old friends. Pride and Prejudice also inspired me to start reading the classics. It opened up a world to me.

Anyway, there you have it. Thanks for visiting, guys!

What book has inspired you?

Let's step away from books for a second and get personal. What T-Shirt slogan best describes you?

I had to go on a major witch hunt to track down a slogan, but I'd say that this one fits me pretty well being an '80s baby! Short, sweet and to the point!

Thanks for stopping by, guys! What would your t-shirt say?

Hello fellow hoppers and yay for my fourth week joining the Book Blog Follow Friday, hosted by Parajunkee & AlisonCanRead

My blog is nearly at 100 followers! You can be sure that when it reaches that epic number, there'll be a suuweet international giveaway! So stop by, pull up a seat, follow me, I'll follow you and we'll all live happily ever after!

Here's this week's question:

Name 3 authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from?

My answer is going to be slightly predictable if you've been reading my blog, haha. But here they are...

Jane Austen - I'd want to know right away about what happens to Elizabeth and Mr Darcy, and all the other characters after the end of Pride and Prejudice! I know that there are many sequels by other authors out there, but they just don't satisfy me because they're not Jane's words and therefore, not her thoughts. You know what I mean? I'd want to know the true story.

Sophie Kinsella - I want to ask her why the lead characters in her books are essentially the same, because even though I enjoy them, it annoys me. But I'd be nice. ;-)

J.R.R. Tolkien - There is so much I would ask him, but first I might request an extensive lesson in Elvish. Would be awesome to speak a language few understand! Ha.

So there you have it guys!

Which authors would you choose?

My 3rd week joining the Follow Friday fun hosted by Parajunkee! Here's this week's question:

What do I do when I am not reading?

I shop a lot more than I should! I'm just getting over a mini obsession with nail polish so now I have enough colours to last a lifetime (or at least a few months!) Now I'm into buying used books... I've bought about a dozen the past couple of weeks or so!
Also, I love animals and so I volunteer at a shelter in my village. At one point I wanted to be an environmental scientist until I finally accepted that my brain is not scientifically inclined! LOL!

There's more I could tell you but I'll save that for another time. :-)

Thanks for visiting, guys! What do you get up to?

Week numero dos has arrived! Here's this week's Book Blog Follow Friday question:

Let's step away from besties...What is the worst book that you've ever read and actually finished?

It's definitely going to be Fighting Back (Dear Diary Series #6) by Cheryl Lanham.

I picked this up while on holiday in the USA when I was a teenager. Although I liked it when I was 14, I'm sure the more mature (maturity is still a relative term where I'm concerned) me would've put this back on the bookshop shelf as soon as I read the description at the back:

'After her mom dies, high school senior Amber Makepeace moves away to live with her cousin. It's really hard being the new girl in town-and when the school bully starts picking on her, she decides to fight back.'

Amber Makepeace. Need I say more? Lucky for me I aged and grew better taste! Ha.

Thank you for coming over and reading, guys! Be sure to check out my brand spanking new review for Rich Girl, Poor Girl by Lesley Lokko while you're here. :-)

Check out her blog! :)
So I have just joined the weekly Book Blog Follow Friday hosted by Parajunkee! I'll admit that I'm a bit unsure about what I'm doing, so hopefully I get this right. I intend to actively follow every blog listed over on the post, but as there are 200+ it's going to take some time. Will get there, though!

This week's question: ACK! Your favourite book/movie character (example Hermione Granger played by the Emma chick) just walked into the room! Who is it and what would be your first reaction?

Without any second thought, I'm going to say Mr Darcy as played by Colin Firth in the 1995 BBC television adaptation of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

I remember reading the book for the first time for GCSE English Lit at school and absolutely falling in love with it. Along with reading, the teacher also got us to watch the TV series in the hopes that it would aid our learning. At first I thought Mr Darcy was, of course, a dislikeable snob, but after his declaration of love to Elizabeth I could not help but fall for him myself!

Plus, Colin Firth in the series is very easy on the eyes! Sigh. I love him to pieces! Was so elated when he finally got that well-deserved Oscar for The King's Speech (another excellent film)...

Anyway, I think I've read the book about 3 times since and watched the TV series a few times more! I've also got at least 5 copies of the book -- I went through a phase of having to buy old hardback versions whenever I saw one! It is by far my favourite novel and Colin Firth is, without contest, the best Mr Darcy. In my eyes, anyway. Move aside Matthew McFadyan (anyone else think the Keira Knightley version was terrible?!)
As for my reaction if Mr Darcy/Colin Firth walked into the room? Well, I think I would either stand on the spot and become silent from shock, then afterwards walk up to him shaking and stuttering about how amazing I thought he was and congratulate him on everything... OR I would scream, rush over to him, gush, and cry my eyes out. The former would be the best option, but either way I would make a fool out of myself!

What about you guys? Who is your favourite book or film character?
